The EarthSave's Plant-based Potluck in Jeffersonville, Indiana is awesome! Clark Memorial Hospital's goals are to positively impact the community's health -- and do so by letting us hold events at their fabulous facility.

This month's potluck starts with mealtime at 6:30PM. All anyone does for a potluck is to bring a dish or a bunch of plant-based food (best if vegan; no dairy/no meat) for 6-10 people, and Earthsave provides the dinnerware (unless you want to bring your own). These are always spectacular and subject to much promotion and praise (and worthy of it). While we encourage attendees to make plant-based food and bring it, this event will be at the hospital cafeteria, so food of sorts is also available for purchase by them.

Our presentation this month will be about the deleterious health effects of fructose on our bodies and our culture at large. Fructose by-passes our insulin-based, neuro-regulated feedback mechanisms for satiation, leading to overconsumption. It is also as unhealthy to our liver as alcohol. Alternatives exist and will be discussed. Fructose, meat, milk, hydrogenated oils all belong in the same dung heap as slavery, white-male-voting-only, doctor-sponsored cigarette advertisements and magical thinking.

The cost is free and open to all.

If you are new, please let us know you are coming so as to orient you quickly (502 299 9520). Bring food of the plant-variety, e.g. vegan/vegetarian/raw. Anything goes: From carrots to quinoa. Optional: Bring your own place-setting to reduce waste.

These Jeffersonville potlucks are always on the 1st Thursday of the month.

The big idea: help your health and the planet by migrating gradually to a plant-based diet while having a riot in the meantime, learning some "how to's", meeting new people and getting to know your fellow concerned neighbors. Our food choices and food system isn't the only thing that needs improving in the world, but it's a handy place to start.

DIRECTIONS: Use Google and/or call Nate at 502 299 9520. It is near E. 10th Street and Spring Street -- VERY close to I-65. Free and close parking by the main entrance. When you walk in, veer to the left and follow the signs to the cafeteria. Lots of room. Check it out -- Big adventure = Big event!

Deciding to eat more plants is a really big step, and Earthsave is here to support the healthy intentions that we all have. The general public is welcome, absolutely.

Food is a good reason for people to get together and eat. It's all about food, health, the environment, fairness, personal empowerment, psychological awareness, overarching themes in our crazy culture. Join in the conversation--we want all voices!
